DSC01062Single Mom & Families Retreat

Friday, July 11 – Sunday, July 13, 2014

Tilikum’s Illahee Retreat Center offers retreat programs that emphasize times of spiritual and relational renewal, exploring creation, building community, encountering God and transforming lives. Whether fishing with your son or daughter on the lake, exploring the grounds during a nature hike, or racing up the Climbing Wall together, the setting, the people, and the presence of God create an ideal opportunity to experience life side by side.

Single Moms and their kids (ages 5+) are invited to spend a relaxing weekend at Tilikum, just enjoying each other! Take time to be encouraged by biblical teaching and wonderful worship times, playing in the woods, canoeing on the lake, or just enjoying some down time. There will be times together as well as times for moms to be alone while the kids are with Tilikum counselors. A truly refreshing weekend and a great memory-making opportunity for your family!

Retreat price includes lodging for two nights, five meals and all program activities.

Single Room with three single beds and private bathroom accommodations in a comfortable country, retreat center setting.

Speaker: Amy Steele, Teacher

Theme: Schools Out, but the Teacher is In! An educator and mother’s perspective on the whole kid.

Amy Steele teaches various ages and stages of children in a small Christian school in Olympia, Washington, which rents space from the camp where her husband works. This past year her children attended high school, middle school, and preschool, which was a very interesting combination. She likes to knit, strum a ukulele badly, and her current obsession is astronomy with a minor in young adult novels. Other occupations she has held include reading specialist, writer, store manager, bank teller, middle school substitute lunch monitor for 600 children, and bilingual teacher. Being from Texas makes her a little odd in Washington, but she loves the Pacific Northwest and only goes home to kiss her parents and renew her accent. She is, above all, deeply thankful for a Savior who leads gently those who are mothers.

Worship Leader: Carrie Friedrich

Activities: worship & spiritual time, canoes, Aqua Jump & Swing with waterslide during swim time, relax in the Hot Tub, Big Swing, Climbing Wall, craft projects, campfire, exploring the barn and animals, hiking, and Free Time Fun!

Things to Bring: Bedding, towels for showers and waterfront activities, bathroom toiletries, swim suit, closed-toe shoes, sandals, Bible, notepad, casual clothes, jacket, camera, flashlight, and mosquito spray.

Tilikum Medical Diet Form:  We are able to accommodate most medical dietary needs when given prior notification. Tilikum charges an additional $1 per meal for “Medical Diet” requests due to additional preparation and higher cost of food. Tilikum prepares family-style meals rather than ‘individual short orders’ based on ‘food preferences’. We will make you an individual meal with the specifications listed below to the best of our abilities.

We take great care to avoid cross-contaminating food groups, but are not a dedicated facility and will process all types of foods in the same kitchen. Guests are encouraged to bring supplemental snacks or foods, when faced with a restrictive diet. All guests assume personal responsibility for their dietary needs and communication of those needs. We encourage you to clarify with us at the time of service, if there are ingredients that are unsafe for you. Our staff will attempt to modify food preparation when we are able to do so.

Please return this Tilikum Medical Diet Form no later than one week prior to your arrival.
